So I decided to try and teach myself. AD: I did eight albums with Frank, starting with Chunga's Revenge. I was a Journey member. That everybodys a dreamer on some level? Im not sure what Im gonna do with it yet, but I got a lot of material, and a lot of it I really like. Together they were an all-star group. AD: The only times we would actually play together was maybe when she would be playing vibes. So I went to this club and we chatted about me coming over and joining his band, but 1 couldn't give an answer because l wasn't sure if I wanted to disband my group. I'd like to sit at home and work on that sort of stuff. AD: I have a snare drum with a vacuum pad over it-the old Gladstone pad. AD: I used to do a lot of push-ups, sit- ups, and all that to keep myself feeling healthy, but I was still getting drained. I had very mixed emotions I thought, Heres a good opportunity for me, but under the worst conditions. It wasn't anything special, but I thought it was neat it was a different sound-sort of a power thing. They're really good. Even while I was doing the solo album, even after it was successfulin my heart of hearts, I was never gonna leave Journey. And he was there for a brief time, until Herbie heard my tape and convinced them that they were gonna have to move from him to me. Yeah. Id write some melodies, Id write some hooks. With what you make off the old stuff, could you afford to retire at this point? Youd think that a certain amount of success would squelch certain drives. And we wrote the record. I feel lost when Im not doing it. Next night. You get in a baseball team and some people like each other and some people hate each other, but they still play together.
